Our position

MusicIndexer hosts no audio. The catalog records metadata and a pointer to material already published on third party networks. Removing an entry from our index does not remove the underlying file from the network it lives on, because that file is not ours and never was.

We nonetheless act on valid notices, and we remove indexed pointers on request.

Sending a notice

To request removal of an index entry, send the following to abuse@musicindexer.com:

1. Identification of the work you believe is infringed.
2. The specific entry or entries at issue, by URL or catalog identifier. A general description of an artist or catalog is not sufficient to identify an entry.
3. Your contact details.
4. A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent, or the law.
5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on their behalf.
6. Your physical or electronic signature.

What happens next

Valid notices are actioned promptly. We remove the identified pointers from the public index and record the action, including the identifiers removed and the date, so the removal is auditable. We will confirm to the sender when it is done.

Counter notice

If you believe an entry was removed in error, you may send a counter notice to the same address, identifying the entry and explaining the basis for reinstatement.

Repeat infringers

We terminate the accounts of subscribers who repeatedly use the service to infringe.
